Easy At Home Manicure

Hey and happy Thursday! We are *that* much closer to the weekend!

I have been doing my own nails for about NINE years now. Crazy! I go to the salon every now and then for special occasions or for a girls day, but I mostly do my own nails at home.

I have a UV lamp and gel polishes, but I'm taking a break from gel for now and doing regular nail lacquer. Maybe you know this, maybe you don't, but it just is not a good idea to repeatedly pick off your gel polish and continue to put more gel polish on your nails. I learned that the hard way...oops.

I do miss gel polish, and maybe one day I'll get back to it, but for now here is my current routine!

Step 1: Clip and file nails if needed. I clip my nails whenever I feel like they're too long for me, and I file them just about every time I polish them.

This is the best file!

Step 2: Apply base coat to clean, bare nails.

Essie always make a really great base coat!

Step 3: Apply 2-3 thin layers of your polish.

OPI is always my go to. The shades I reach for most are Funny Bunny, Cajun Shrimp, and Lisbon Wants Moor.

Step 4: After your polish is dry to the touch, apply your top coat.

I prefer a fast drying top coat.

It definitely takes time, practice, and patience. This is one of my favorite methods of self care! When I do my nails, I put on a show on my phone or listen to a podcast.

I really love this! I apply it in between manicures, and it helps to strengthen my nails so much!

Have a GREAT Thursday!! See you here tomorrow for some faves!!

The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
