January 2023 Book Review

Hey there! I read some really great books this month! This is more than I've read in a really long time, but I've been reading on my phone, and I think I like it better than a hard copy!😮 -I now have a Kindle on my birthday wishlist! Grab a cup of coffee and settle in with a cozy blanket, and maybe you'll find your next read!  First up,  Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt- I loved this book so much. So much more than I expected to love it. I also shared about it in a Friday Favorites post a couple weeks ago. I imagined this book to be about an octopus and his travels under the sea, with all of his other sea creature friends. When it's actually a story that centers around an aquarium in Washington, and it focuses on two of the employees there, and of course an octopus named Marcellus. It's about freedom, redemption, forgiveness, and unconditional love. It's such a sweet story, and I highly recommend this one.  The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose- Wh

Weekend Recap

 Happy Monday! I had such a fun weekend in Birmingham with family!!  I started off my Friday night by getting ready for bed at 7:50.  #wildfridaynight🙂 Saturday morning, I got up and going early. I grabbed Chick-fil-a breakfast, and when I got back, my people were waiting on me to go! We went straight to the convention center for my sister's cheer competition.  After her performance, we met some more family for a Mexican lunch! We did a little shopping before going back to my aunt's house for the night.  Sunday Morning we got up early and headed to Bucc-e's for breakfast! I got a sausage biscuit and... So. Good.  We went back to the convention center for day 2 of the competition. After the awards session, we grabbed a quick lunch. I ran in Homegoods super quick in search of one specific coffee mug, which I know is a big ask for a store like that. But I'm determined. I'm still on the hunt... Our last stop was Trader Joe's! We don't have any here in Mississip

Friday Favorites {1.27.23}

Yay for Friday! I'm off tomorrow, so my weekend starts TODAY! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea to share my faves from the week!  I finally got some Stanley cups! I'm loving them! Water may or may not taste better out of a Stanley. 😉 In my post yesterday, I compared Stanley vs. Hydrapeak.  A cute cup just makes me happy! And helps me drink more water!  Lately I've been having a little trouble falling asleep. I'm tired, but I just can't seem to get comfortable enough or quiet my mind. Whatever the deal is, I saw this Liquid IV night time drink and grabbed it. I've been drinking it the past few nights (out of my 20 oz Stanley🙂), and I am falling asleep faster! I won't say I'm waking up refreshed, but my sleep is better. (The first night I drank it, I did wake up a few times during the night.) Maybe I'll start feeling more refreshed in the morning the longer I use it. Sadly, the taste isn't great. It's a super strong lavender flavor

Thursday Thoughts: Stanley vs. Hydrapeak!

  With Stanley cups being all the rage, let's do a little comparison between their 40oz version and the Hydrapeak 40oz. First, let's look at price. My 40oz Quencher H2.0 Tumbler (in Fog) was $40. My 40oz Hydrapeak Roadster (in Bubblegum) was $34.99 (currently on sale for $24.95!). Obviously a huge difference there. If you don't care about trends or brand names, then Hydrapeak is the winner there!  I'm not an ice in my water kind of girl , so I unfortunately can't attest to how long ice lasts in either. My mother in law did an ice test in her Stanley, and it lasted all day long.  Car Cup Holder Test:  The Hydrapeak does fit in my car cup holder, but it doesn’t fit in everyone’s. The Stanley fits across the board. The Hydrapeak is just bulky, where the Stanley is more sleek and slender.   Ok, let’s talk about the straws. A bad straw situation can bring out the worst in some people. 😬 #instagramcommentstaughtmethat The Hydrapeak straw is built into the lid, with a

What's Up Wednesday {January 2023}

  Happy Wednesday! It's time for What's Up Wednesday with Sheaffer and Shay ! I'm linking up with them today to share what's going on in my life right now!  1: WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK:   Here's my meal plan for the week!  Monday: Maple and Orange Salmon   Tuesday: Cheesy Ranch Tacos Wednesday: Sausage Pasta Thursday: Pork Tenderloin Friday: Out to eat! 2: WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT:  I was looking through my pictures the other day, and it really had me missing the beach! I'm actually not a huge beach person, but every now and then I get to wishing for the salty air and sea! This was at Seacrest Beach on 30A!🏖 Destin, FL😍 Navarre, FL. My mom's best friend lives here, so it's our favorite!! 3: WHAT I'M LOVING:  I finally jumped on the latest trend and got myself some Stanley cups!  I mean, they are really cute. And maybe they make the water taste better. 😉 I have water in the 40 oz and a Liquid IV in the 20 oz.  And still LOVING The Bib

Tuesday Tryons!

Happy Tuesday! I've got a fun little try on for you today! This was my OOTD yesterday for grocery shopping!  I wore my new Tretorn sneakers, and I have a few things to say about them...they're super light, super cute, and super uncomfy. 😬 My feet were killing me after just a few hours of wearing them. That won't stop me from wearing them though, because they are so dang cute! Also, pink and navy is my favorite combo. Can you tell?? And I love a stripe!  Next up is this cute top from Nordstrom. I think it's so cute for spring.  And it's inspired by... ...Princess Catherine's shirt from their Christmas card!  I'm already thinking ahead to Christmas with this sweatshirt I got from Etsy.   It's soooo soft and cozy! Perfect for a relaxing winter day.  I also ordered  this dress  from Nordstrom. It was too small so I ordered the next size up but in the "peacock blue". This light blue is sold out. 😕 I'm hoping the bigger size works out because i
