What's Up Wednesday {May 2023}

Happy happy Wednesday, friends! Here we are at the end of another month, so I'm linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday! 1: WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK:  Monday night we had breakfast for dinner!  Last night we had smoked tuna dip, steamed shrimp, and crab cakes.  Tonight we're having snack foods. Sausage balls, pigs in a blanket, rotel dip with sausage... Thursday is "Hamburger Helper w/o the Helper." Friday we're having tacos!  2: WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT: Ohhhh just June of last year! Caleb and I are coming up on one year of being married on the fourth! I'm definitely reminiscing about that day, as well as our honeymoon in Playa Mujeres! 3: WHAT I'M LOVING:  Hands down our new patio furniture! I've been eyeing this set for a few months, and we decided it would be our anniversary gift to each other. We also got a fire pit, which probably won't get much use until the fall, but it'll be so nice then!  4: WHAT WE&

May 2023 Book Review

Whew! After the complete DUD that April was as far as my book reading goes, May was FABULOUS!  Let's get in to what I read in May!   Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley I have to preface this by saying I'm typing this sentence before I've even finished the book, but OH MY this is such a cute book! If you haven't read it, READ IT!  Now that I've finished the book, here are my remaining thoughts!  This book is all about unlikely friendships and not judging people by their outward appearances or your assumptions about what kind of person they are.  Romance.  Major life decisions. Complete strangers to friends who don't know how to live life without each other.  I will say that I got a little bored sometimes when the story was moving slowly, but then a chapter would end on a cliffhanger!  It takes place mainly during the morning and evening train commute to London of Iona, Emmie, Martha, Sanjay, Piers, Jake, and David. These seven strangers become

Weekend Recap

  Hello Monday! Happy Memorial Day, friends! May we all remember and honor who and what this day is really about. I am grateful today and every day for the many men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country.  Friday after I got home from work, we went out to eat...and then I had to get a new car battery😩. Ugh! But we were so glad that we decided to take my car to dinner, otherwise this would have happened to me before work on Saturday morning!  On Saturday, Caleb and I both had to work. When I got home from work, I unloaded the dishwasher and cleaned up the kitchen.  Have I mentioned that I love a clean kitchen??  Sunday morning we decided to just sleep in. I think we both woke up around 8.  I got up and made my coffee and did a few days of The Bible Recap. I'm about a week behind😬.  I put out our flag... And then I.... Got back in bed to read for a bit😊. I read for about an hour before I got ready for the day.  My OOTD for running tons of errands!  And of cou

Friday Favorites {5.26.23}

  Happy Friday!! As always, I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites!!  First up for this weeks faves was our dinner on Monday night!  This is the perfect light dinner that will give you leftovers for lunch all week long! I used Ina Garten's Spicy Pimento Cheese recipe. SO good!! The pasta salad is basically rotini, Zesty Italian Dressing, and your favorite veggies. I used a can of Rotel tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and cucumbers.  Two words: Freezer. Jam.   Y'all. SO good! I was literally eating it by the spoonful while writing this post😂. Next time I go to the store, I'm going to grab peaches and blackberries and mix those together for another jam recipe!  I love a good pink nail polish, and I honestly thought I didn't love this color... BUT I painted my nails "Strawberry Margarita" the other day, and I LOVE it!! It's the perfect pink! My lighting doesn't do it much justice, but I promise it' so pretty!  Earlier this w

I Made Jam!

 Happy Thursday, y'all! Let's make some EASY jam!! I have seen Shay make jam for several years now, and I finally decided to give it a go! I made the "freezer jam" version.  I used the directions that come with the liquid certo box, as well as the ingredient list it offers.  I made strawberry!  I filled up 7 8oz mason jars. They rested on my counter for about 24 hours. I labeled them with type and date. They will last in the freezer for up to one year and up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator.  Here they are after freezing for a day.  This is after being in the fridge for a few hours. OH MY GOODNESS. SO SO good!! You know the strawberry popsicles they have at the snack carts in Disney World?? This jam tastes just like those!  I made Ina Garten's Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits , and the jam was really good on those! (I just noticed the recipe says it takes 40 minutes of prep, but it definitely does not😂. They were very easy!!) This was really easy, and I'll definite

Watched Lately

 Happy Wednesday! It's been a minute since I've shared what I've Watched Lately, so here ya go!  Young Sheldon Y'all. Watch this show!! It is sweet, cute, and HILARIOUS!! We are caught up to season 5, which is all that's on HBO for now. Season 6 just ended, so I'm hoping for it to come to HBO pretty soon! And if you're watching Young Sheldon,  you should go ahead and watch... The Big Bang Theory.  My grandfather got me hooked on this show years ago, and honestly I haven't really been able to watch it since he passed away, but once I started Young Sheldon,  I got back into TBBT!  If there ever comes a day when I say I'm not interested in Desperate Housewives , you'll know something isn't right.😂  Y'all, I started watching this when I was in, like, the fourth grade. I watched it with my babysitter, I watched it at my house while my friend watched it at her house and we texted about the episode, I was devastated when it ended...I looooove t

Housewarming Basket

 Happy Tuesday!! It feels like summer here, y'all!  My mom and step-dad just moved into their new home, and I love any excuse to give a gift to someone. So, I gave them this little housewarming basket this past weekend!  My original plan was just to give them the kitchen towels, but I thought why not make a whole gift basket! I went to Marshall's for the basket, hand soap, and paper hand towels.  I threw in a kitchen sponge and a bottle of wine and called it a day! It was super easy but so fun to put together!  I have followed Living with Landyn on Instagram for close to 8 or 9 years, and she is always throwing together some kind of basket whether it's housewarming, new baby, get well, etc. I love that about her, and I'm glad I thought about doing it! Have a great day!!

Weekend Recap

 Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We had a busy weekend with my sister's graduation!  Saturday morning we got up and headed out to my mom's house. We ate a quick lunch and then went to the graduation!  The only picture I took on my phone..... Gosh I can't believe she's done with high school and will be on to her next adventure so soon... Afterwards, we celebrate the best way we know how...with Mexican food! While Lib headed off the grad night, a couple of my mom's friends were over at her house for dinner and wine!  Such fun!  Sunday we started off with a slow morning before going to lunch to celebrate the graduate yet again!  My mom's dogs have such a rough life 😂. When we got back home yesterday evening, I tended to all the plants outside and decided to change out the water my peonies were in... And they all fell apart except for three. Ugh.  I put them in the same vase and added hydrangeas! I love it, but I don't think the peonies will hold on much lo

Friday Favorites {5.19.23}

Happy Friday!! It's that time again! Woohoo!! As always, I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share our favorites from the week!  Without a doubt, my number one favorite from the week that I just cannot get over... When I went to Kroger on Monday, they had PEONIES!! My very favorite flower and what I had for my wedding bouquet! I couldn't decide on a color, so I got two. They also had a really pretty darker pink, but the light pink just spoke to me!  I really feel like I'm living in a Nancy Meyers movie.😍 I'm still just so excited that they had them.  Speaking of a Nancy Meyers movie... I watched The Parent Trap last night while taking a bubble bath. Talk about a favorite!! Another movie I could watch over and over again!  My week was very "Coastal Grandmother," which I absolutely love!  I have now made it over to "Ina Garten Tik Tok." I used to LOVE watching Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network, so this is right up my alley!  I added these
