Monthly Musings {February 2024}

  Happy last day of February! I'm linking up with Patty and Holly for Monthly Musings! This month's topic is... How To Survive the Winter Months! 1. What do you do in the winter that brings you joy?  Lots of cozy time spent in the house! I like to curl up with a blanket and read or watch a movie. 2. How do you stay warm and cozy?  A heated blanket is a must! A hot cup of coffee or tea while under the heated blanket, warm socks, cozy pjs......I love love love to be cozy all year long, but the winter is especially cozy!  3. What are you looking forward to this winter?  We're already having some warm days here and there, but if it's going to get cold again, I'd really love for it to snow!!  4. Favorite wintertime activities?  Anything cozy and inside 😂.  5. Favorite months of winter?  December and February!! I love Christmas and Valentine's Day!  6. Favorite dishes to make in winter?  Soup!! I made several different chicken tortilla soups in the slow cooker this y

What's Up Wednesday {February 2024}

 How in the world are already wrapping up February??? January is always so.dang.slow. and then the rest of the year just flies by!! I'm linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to give you all the details of my February!! 1: WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK Monday: Philly Cheesesteak Bowls. These were really good! Tuesday: White people taco night 😂. Ground turkey mixed with a packet of taco seasoning. Super simple, but always a favorite around here! Wednesday: Hibachi night. Caleb is making his first meal on the Blackstone! We're doing rice, chicken, and lots of veggies. I want to find a recipe for pink sauce like they serve at the restaurants!  Thursday: Frozen pizzas. Again, super simple but always a fave.  Friday: I'm thinking Mexican!  2: WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT For one of my assignments this week, I had to put together a power point with pictures/details from my middle and high school years. Looking back at those pictures made me miss high school a little bit- only th

Hello Monday {2.26.24}

  Happy Monday!! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah to share all about our weekend! Wild Friday night over here! Caleb was at a work dinner, so I grabbed Chick-fil-a for myself. I watched a movie while I ate, and then I read for a bit.  Saturday morning views.  Ready and about to head out the door. We headed to see Caleb's grandparents and they took us out to lunch to celebrate my birthday!  Of course, we had to make a stop by Homegoods on the way out!  We also grabbed milkshakes for the car ride home!  In bed with tea and watching Desperate Housewives.  Sunday morning we headed to church.  Lunch at Newk's and then we did our grocery shopping for the week afterwards.  I've been reading up on the benefits of having a snake plant in your house, so we went to Lowe's to look for one. Caleb looked online before we went, and the website said out of stock. We went anyways and there was one left, so I took it as meant to be!  I'm ready for a fresh new week, and later t

Friday Favorites {2.23.24}

  It's Friday!! Yay for the weekend!! As always, I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some faves from the week!  This week on my blog.... I recapped our weekend. I shared our quick and easy dinners for the week.   We made a couple of home updates.   And I gave some tips on how I sleep well. Now here are some glimpses of my week that made me happy 😊. I finished reading Ezekiel this week. I read and finished Joel. And now I'm reading Daniel. So far, I'm really liking Daniel!  Speaking of..... This little passage was a great reminder yesterday morning.  A fave low carb lunch of mine from this week... Pimento cheese and pork skins. My FWTFL coach shared about this, so I decided to try it. I was a little skeptical at first, but dang it was so good! I really prefer to make my own pimento cheese, but in a pinch I grabbed some from Aldi, and it's actually really good. I also have been eating those little turkey bites all week long!  When I was making my coffee o

Thursday Tips

 We have almost made it to the weekend, and for that I am so grateful! Today, let's talk about SLEEP!  I love to sleep, how about you?! Sleeping is one of my very favorite parts of life 😂, BUT I often have a lot of trouble getting to sleep. So, today I'm sharing my top tips for getting to sleep quicker, and sleeping better!  1. Have a set nighttime routine to follow.  This is my number one tip! If I don't go through my routine, step by step, I am going to be a crazy mess, and I will not be able to go to sleep. My routine is basically HOT shower, brush my teeth, skincare, get in bed.  2. Take a hot shower or bath.  First of all, I just feel better when I'm freshly showered. I can't stand dirty feet in the bed!! Also, I feel like being warm will get my body more ready for bed, whereas a cold shower would "wake me up" a bit. Once I get in bed though..... 3. Watch TV.  I know this sounds like something you should not do before bed. But, if I don't watch t

House to HOME {Part Three}

 It has been a loooong minute since we've really made any home updates, but I've got some to share with you today!  Still no new window treatments, but we did get some pretty prints above the bed! These are from MK Decker.   Praise be to the good Lord that our TV is no longer on an entryway/console table 😂!! It was really killing me. We found this at Home Store Furnishings in Starkville. They were so sweet and great to work with!  And for the table the TV used to sit on.... it is now serving it's pretty purpose here by the front door 🙂. I like to just sit and stare at it. I'm obsessed! I would love to get two small ottomans to put underneath the table, but I haven't found any that I just love or that aren't ridiculously overpriced. And now that I'm really looking at it, I'm thinking that may be too much going on. What do y'all think? When we have our families over, only a couple of us can sit on the couch, and the rest of us are left to sit at the

Simple Weeknight Meals

 Happy Tuesday, friends! This week we are having super simple, easy, and quick dinners. Here's what's on our menu for this week. Super quick, super easy, and somewhat healthy-ish. For the most part anyway!  Monday- Salmon and veggies. I got this salmon already seasoned at Aldi. I'm just popping this in the air fryer and serving it with green beans and corn on the cob. Easy peasy!  Wednesday- Chicken and veggies. Just switching out the protein! I like to buy a rotisserie chicken for extra easiness. We're having this with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.  Thursday- Chicken parm. Except it's not really chicken parm at all 😂. I got these breaded filets from Aldi, I'm going to add shredded mozzarella on top along with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara, and serve over fettuccine. Another quick and easy meal!! Tonight we'll either have leftovers or whatever we can find. Friday, Caleb has a work thing, so I'll probably do leftovers.  What's on your menu

Weekend Recap

It's Monday!! Here's to a fresh, new week! As always, I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday and to share all about our weekend!  My weekend started out so sweet! I finished my school work in time to read a bit before going to dinner.  The after math of four people who really enjoy Mexican food. Or I should say- two girls who are obsessed with Mexican food and drag their guys along with them any chance they get 😂. Reading in bed for a little bit! It's been too long since I've done this!  I woke up to a quiet house Saturday morning!  I did The Bible Recap. Then, we went to Chick-fil-a for breakfast before getting ready for the day.  Ready to do some shopping! Except, remember my February goal?? Yeah, no impulse purchases!! I've actually done really well with this! We went to a few places mainly to look around, and I wanted to get some ideas for nightstands for my bedroom.  We came home, and I got ready for date night! Libbey and Cayden had formal t
