Hey there! I read some really great books this month! This is more than I've read in a really long time, but I've been reading on my phone, and I think I like it better than a hard copy!😮 -I now have a Kindle on my birthday wishlist! Grab a cup of coffee and settle in with a cozy blanket, and maybe you'll find your next read!
First up,
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt-
I loved this book so much. So much more than I expected to love it. I also shared about it in a Friday Favorites post a couple weeks ago. I imagined this book to be about an octopus and his travels under the sea, with all of his other sea creature friends. When it's actually a story that centers around an aquarium in Washington, and it focuses on two of the employees there, and of course an octopus named Marcellus. It's about freedom, redemption, forgiveness, and unconditional love. It's such a sweet story, and I highly recommend this one.
The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose-
Whew. Ok. Wow.
What a book.
I feel like I need to take a really deep breath.
I originally saw this book on Tik Tok I think. It's about a lawyer who is defending her husband who was accused of murdering his mistress. I know, right? Crazy. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. There were so many twists and turns, and the big question "who really did it?" was in my mind the whole time. Let me tell you, not at all who I thought. When I thought it was over, I was mad. But then it kept going. It did not end AT ALL like I thought it would. This is not the kind of book that I would normally read, but I'm glad I did. Wow. It was seriously good. And insane at the same time. If you're looking for suspense, this book is for you! I'll warn you, though- the language is quite vulgar and it does get a little bit gory. BONUS: I just saw that there's going to be a movie!
101 Reason Why We Love The Queen by E. Dunne & H. Sutcliffe-
I got this cute little book from my mom for Christmas. I love anything surrounding the British Royal Family! It's a cute, light read all about Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It's super sweet and easy to read through in like 5-10 minutes, and now it looks cute in this book stack I have in my closet! If you love all things Royal, check it out! Which leads me to book #4.....
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn-
This is the last book I read this month. It was the longest book, and it took me the longest to get through. It was amazing, though. It's a fictional book, but it is (from what I understand) loosely based on real stories of Bletchley Park workers during WWII. It flashes back to the years of the war, and "present day" is the days leading up to the royal wedding of Prince Phillip to (then) Princess Elizabeth. I did find it to be a little slow, but then there were parts of the book that had me on the edge of my seat and so entranced by it. It was really interesting to learn about the war from this perspective, and I'm glad I didn't give up on it when I kind of wanted to. I skimmed through the Epilogue and learned some really neat things, so if you read it, I recommend looking over that, too. Here's a little bonus (that was mentioned in the Epilogue):
In 2014, the Princess of Wales took a tour of Bletchley Park where her grandmother Valerie Glassborow worked as a code breaker. How neat is that?? Here's an article about her visit.
Ok, I'm off to find my February reads! If you have any suggestions, let me know! I'm thinking super light and all the love stories for the month of love.💘

I really enjoyed the Rose Code (though I agree that it was a bit slow at times. I'm waiting rather impatiently for Remarkably Bright Creatures to come in from our library.
