April 2023 Book Review

I have a very short and sweet book review for April. I just wasn't feeling any of the books I started. Hopefully May is a better book month for me!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins-

I think we have probably all read this book, right? Well, with book four, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, being made into a movie I think everyone is back into what they're calling their "Hunger Games Era". Including me.😂 I've rewatched all the movies. So I thought why not reread the books??

The first time I read The Hunger Games it was for my seventh grade reading class. So naturally, I hated it. Now that I have given it a little time, like 12 years, I loved it! I read it super quickly, because I was so hooked. I've seen the movie maybe a handful of times, and to be able to notice the differences between book and movie was neat. I honestly forgot about a lot of things that happened in only the book.

If it's been a while since you've read this series, give it a go! I may read Catching Fire this month too!

A Year at the French Farmhouse by Gillian Harvey-

I love all things French. Of course I had to read this!

This book is what Nancy Meyers movie dreams are made of. I could so see Diane Keaton in all her "Coastal Grandmother" glory playing the part of main character Lily. Fresh flowers all about the French Farmhouse, lunch in a "locals only" café, dinner under the stars..........

I'll admit it was a little slow, but it really was so cute. This is just the kind of movie I would love to watch! Some of the wording was kind of odd, it was awkward and cheesy at times, and I got a little bored. The end was good, though! I feel like maybe the author stayed on some topics a little too long and elaborated where things didn't need elaboration.

If you're fine with a slow book, I'd recommend it. If you need fast pace, don't read it. I really think it is a great book to read before bed, or maybe on the beach.

I am still reading a book I started in April, but it will go on my May review!

Have a great Tuesday!!

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
