June 2023 Book Review

It's BOOK REVIEW day! Let's get in to what I read in the month of June....

I guess I'm kind of stuck in a pattern of reading three books per month. Which I guess is better than NO books a month, right?!

I loved two of the books I read this month. One of them, I did not love. Like at all.

Someone We Know by Shari Lapena-

Ohhhh my word. This book was a ROLLERCOASTER.

Someone We Know is about a quiet little suburban neighborhood that gets completely shaken up when a neighbor is murdered. Very Desperate Housewvies-esque, so of course I loved it😂.

I would think I knew who the killer was, and then I would suspect someone else. I eventually figured it out, but the ending still shocked me!

This was such a good book! If you like a little bit of a thriller, read this!! I think I may try out another book by Shari Lapena for July!

Joy in the Little Things by Kerri Hess-

This book really is pure JOY! It makes me want to clean out my closet, go to Paris, and start painting water colors- and who knows, maybe I will!

Whether you need inspiration for home, fashion, or life in general, this is a great book to spark some ideas for your next project!

Ok, I'm off to get rid of anything that doesn't spark JOY😂!

The Jetsetters by Amanda Eyre Ward-

Hmm...

This book felt really random. It's basically about a woman/mother/widow who is looking for love in her lonely old age. She enters a contest to win a trip, and she wins. She takes her (grown) children with her, and their lives all get in the way of the trip.

The book discussed their days at sea, their different ports, and the crazy things going on in all their lives. It seemed like it went too in depth in some parts, but not enough in other parts. Again, it just felt really random.

The ending was in fact, the WORST part. It just...ended. Even the epilogue was random.

I don't know. I had pretty high expectations for this book since it was a part of Reese Witherspoon's Book Club, but I just didn't love it.

What did you read in June? Anything I should add to my list?? Have a great Thursday!

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
