Christmas Cruise Part Four {Grand Turk and a Day at Sea}

Hey, hey! Today I am wrapping up this little series on our "Christmas Cruise" by sharing about our last port, our day at sea, and a little about our debarkation! Settle in and maybe picture yourself on an island.... especially if it's as cold where you live as it is in Starkville! It was NINE degrees when I was drinking my coffee yesterday morning. NINE! It's about 10-15 degrees warmer today, so things are looking up 😂.

We started off this morning with a towel elephant!

More gorgeous blue water in Grand Turk!!

You just cannot beat this!

What a WARM welcome! As we walked in, I started thinking that this may be my favorite port so far.

We decided that we would absolutely go back to Turks and Caicos one day!

The infamous pink Starbucks!! How cute?? I knew this was in Turks, but I had no idea it would be where we were. Very Pinterest worthy 😂.

This pic may be Pinterest worthy, too! I could not get over that water!

We had to walk a good bit to get to a somewhat quiet and less crowded area, so we took pictures along the way.

I took this and didn't even realize those two little girls were in the picture, but I thought it was so sweet once I saw it. They walked up and down the beach selling bracelets.

Still walking. And do you those pesky gray clouds?? They did not stop the water from shimmering, though!

Caleb found this shell (that did still have a crab in it), but it was so pretty and perfect!

Another Pinterest-y picture. And we finally found some chairs! We sat there for about an hour before I'd had enough....unfortunately I'm just not a sit on the beach kind of girl. So, we went to some of the gift shops. I wanted a sweatshirt, and I wanted to get Reid a "beach shirt" as he likes to call it!

They still had their Christmas tree up as well!

Those dang clouds just kept on coming. It eventually did get super windy and started to rain a bit, but it was over for the most part by the time we left port.

Duck hunting on the ship! This was one of our favorite things to do the whole trip. It was so exciting to find a duck in the most random places 😂. If you ever go on a cruise, definitely bring ducks to hide!!

The next day was our day at sea. We didn't do a whole lot of anything, but they did have more on board activities than they did on a day at port. It was pretty fun, and I really couldn't feel the ship moving too bad. I only got two pictures on this day...

The view from the back of the boat! And....

Caleb's appetizer at dinner. Any guesses as to what this is? (Spoiler: frog legs...BLEH!) He says they were really good, but I couldn't do it. I had black bean enchiladas this night and thought they were the BEST dish I had eaten all week. Dang they were good!! Each night, we pretty much all had the Carnival Chocolate Melting Cake. OMG it was delish!! I definitely had some foods that weren't all that, but some that I'm still thinking about (Um, those enchiladas!).

And the next thing I knew......

We were at Miami airport ready to head home. And then our plane was delayed. Once we finally got on and got to Atlanta, we RAN to our connecting flight and made it just in time!

We really really really enjoyed our first cruise and would absolutely go on another one! What about y'all? Are you cruise people or do you prefer your feet on the ground??

And now I'm at home in this freezing cold weather, curled up and wearing my Grand Turk sweatshirt, kinda wishing I was back on that boat.....

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

  1. I can usually only handle sitting on the beach (or even by the pool on the ship) for an hour or so though I could walk along the water's edge forever. We enjoy cruising but we're definitely not like some of the cruisers we met... one couple were on their 35th or 36th cruise, another had just returned from a 70+ day trip around Africa on one cruise ship to go home for less than 2 weeks before jumping on our ship to the Western Caribbean for 7 days and we met several couples that were staying on for a back to back cruise but I think 7 days at a time would be my limit. It was fun, I loved the food, but I was starting to feel a bit bored and ready for something different after a week.

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
