Monthly Musings {December 2024}

 Happy Thursday!! I am here to link up with Holly and Patty for the last edition of Monthly Musings for 2024!

1. What do you do about last minute gifts you forgot to buy?

So funny that this is the first question today, because I have a couple of gifts that I just ordered last minute. If they aren't here in time, I will just deliver them later and try not to stress over it! Last year, as we were headed out of town, we had to get a last minute gift and just got a gift card!

2. Favorite last minute holiday recipe?

Any kind of dip! Super easy to throw together and grab a bag of chips! Either make your own or get something premade.

3. Favorite part of the holiday season so far?

Seeing all the sparkly lights all over town! And I won't lie....we live in a college town, so all the college students are gone for the most part, and it is quite nice 😂

4. Best stocking stuffer/small gift?

A gift card to the recipient's favorite lunch or coffee spot, lip gloss, nail polish, something practical (like socks, a multi function tool, etc.)

5. Favorite holiday sweet treat?

Fudge! I don't know why, but fudge just seems so Christmasy to me!

6. Will you make a New Year's Resolution?

I try to make a few goals for myself, but I always choose a couple of words for the year. I like those little word searches where the first 4 words you see are yours for the year. Mine for 2025 will be Connection, Self Care, Miracles, and Lessons. I feel like these are going to be perfect for me and the year ahead!

7. Do you use a planner? Paper or electronic?

I mentioned the other day that I bought a 2025 planner and made it a goal for myself to actually stick to using one! I got this one from Erin Condren.

8. Stay up until midnight or sound asleep when the ball drops?

I usually stay up!

9. What do you do on New Year's Day?

My mom usually makes all of the traditional foods for the day.

10. Are you taking time off in December?

Yes! Tomorrow I will post my Friday Favorites and then check out until after the new year!

Have a happy Thursday!

  3. I've been off fudge ever since the year my grandma stored her homemade fudge next to the homemade soap and the fudge tasted like soap! Yuck! However, thank you for bringing that memory back for me. It was a funny Christmas as we all discreetly spit out our fudge :)

  4. I left my Christmas shopping to the last minute this year and did most of it online so I'm just hoping the last couple of things arrive on time! I like those "first four words" type graphics as well; it's just interesting to see what your brain will register. (on this one, my four words were Strength, Power, Breakthrough, Miracles so maybe 2025 will be a banner year!) Happy Holidays!

 Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a great week! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea today to share some faves from my week. Well guess what is back tonight?? NEW Hallmark Christmas movies!! Ummm YAY!! I'm most excited about Confessions of a Christmas Letter (Angela from The Office is starring in that one!) and Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story! For some foodie faves... This right here. It made my week. I'm obsessed with the tuna from Beagle Bagel. It's amazing. I can never say it enough! I made egg drop soup for the lunch the other day, and it was really good! It's always been my favorite soup from Chinese buffets. I didn't feel great and wanted a soup...luckily I had all the ingredients. I used this recipe here. The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...

Friday Favorites {6.6.25}

 Happy Friday, friends!! How was your week? One of my summer classes started this week, so I have been getting back into a bit of a routine which is nice! As always, I am linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some faves from the week.  How cute is our new wreath sash?? My mom got it for us, and I am obsessed! Lots of food faves this week.... Another salsa I am now obsessed with! I found this at Aldi, and y'all it is SO good! I used it in a recipe, but I am definitely going to get another jar to eat for a snack or with lunch or dinner! Now for a Tik Tok "recipe". I used quotations, because it's really just a chop/open a can and throw together situation. Corn, black beans, pinto beans, onion, tomato, cilantro. I ate it with tortilla chips for lunch this week. It was so good! Next time, I would add more tomato and use less onion (maybe even no onion at all), and I should have chopped up the cilantro a little better! I also squeezed in some lime juice and added salt a...
