25 Life Lessons I'd Go Back and Tell My Younger Self

Today is my 25th birthday! When I turned 23, I compiled a list of life lessons that I would go back and tell my younger self and said I would add to it each year. Well, I did not do it last year, but I'm back here for year 25! So, here are those little life lessons....

1. Buy the shoes. You won't regret it when you look down at your feet and smile every single day. (If you know me, you know I pretty much live by this.)

2. Designer mascara is no better than cheap drugstore mascara. Go with the cheap stuff.

3. Hug your mama tight and don't hold a grudge against her. She has your best interest at heart.

4. Wash your face and brush your teeth no matter how tired you are.

5. Read your Bible and talk to God more. He's always listening.

6. Be kind to everyone you meet, no matter how they treat you. We're all just trying to make it some days.

7. Spend more time with your family and less time in your room by yourself.

8. Your little sister looks up to you. She's not trying to annoy you. Hang out with her more. She'll become your very best friend one day.

9. Don't worry so much about your hair or outfit, everybody has embarrassing middle school photos.

10. One day you'll like the taste of water. And you'll have a favorite brand that tastes the best.

11. Your heart will get broken. You will be ok.

12. You will fail, it will be embarrassing and hard to navigate. But again, you will be ok.

13. Don't pick your nail polish off. It does more harm than good. Trust me.

14. Go outside more. But wear lots of sunscreen. And a (cute) hat.

15. Don't let your laundry get too piled up. It's just annoying to spend a whole day or two catching up.

16. Read more books. Read less news.

17. Break out the fine china on a random weeknight.

18. Pray for your people and love them big.

19. Do something that scares you every now and then. You might love that something. You'll never know unless you try.

20. Take lots of pictures and videos. The memories will one day fade, and you'll be glad you have those to look back on.

21. You will marry your best friend and love of your life, and your real wedding will be way better than your Pinterest wedding.

22. Living with a boy is weird, but you'll get used to it. He's probably just as weirded out by living with you.

23. Call your mom everyday. She's expecting it, and you need it just as much as she does.

24. Trust. Your. Gut. If you feel like you're supposed to do something, DO IT. (Like go back to school to finish your degree and then change your major 😉) If it's meant to be, it will be. If it isn't, it won't.

25. Buy the concert tickets. See the artists you love while you still can!! You will not regret it.

Friday Favorites {10.18.24}

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a great week! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea today to share some faves from my week. Well guess what is back tonight?? NEW Hallmark Christmas movies!! Ummm YAY!! I'm most excited about Confessions of a Christmas Letter (Angela from The Office is starring in that one!) and Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story! For some foodie faves... This right here. It made my week. I'm obsessed with the tuna from Beagle Bagel. It's amazing. I can never say it enough! I made egg drop soup for the lunch the other day, and it was really good! It's always been my favorite soup from Chinese buffets. I didn't feel great and wanted a soup...luckily I had all the ingredients. I used this recipe here. The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
