Book Review: I'm Glad My Mom Died

What a title, right? Sounds a bit odd, but goodness this was a good one!

(TW: discusses mental, physical, and verbal abuse, eating disorders, death)

Ok, who grew up watching iCarly or maybe had kids that watched it? I didn't really watch Nickelodeon much growing up, so I kind of just caught it here or there with friends.

This book came out a few years ago, but I just recently read it. Actually, I listened to it on Spotify! In this book, Jennette McCurdy details what her life was like growing up as a child actor, her time on iCarly, navigating life with an overbearing mother, her time after acting, battling an eating disorder, and more.

It really broke my heart to hear her relive her childhood in this book. It broke my heart to know what she was going through while on iCarly and after. It broke my heart that she is actually glad her mom died, because she knows what her life would be like had she not died.

Hearing stories like this really changes my thoughts and perspective on child actors. Whether you watched Jennette McCurdy on iCarly or not, this is a really good read- or listen! (I have gotten to where I like to listen to the author read their book if it's an autobiography, memoir, etc.)

Let me know if you've read this one or decide to give it a read! Have a great day!

My plan is to see y'all back here on January 13! For some food faves.... I grabbed the raspberry kringle at Aldi the other day after seeing so many positive reviews on it. It is really good!! I had some with a cup of coffee a couple times this week! Last night, Caleb made lasagna soup- YUM. Definitely a favorite of mine lately! A great way to end the night.... Caleb made me a cosmopolitan the other night. Yum! I am really going to miss this sight.... This is my favorite time of year for sure! Twinkly lights and candle light = the BEST.  Happy Friday, friends!! How was your week? One of my summer classes started this week, so I have been getting back into a bit of a routine which is nice! As always, I am linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some faves from the week.  How cute is our new wreath sash?? My mom got it for us, and I am obsessed! Lots of food faves this week.... Another salsa I am now obsessed with! I found this at Aldi, and y'all it is SO good! I used it in a recipe, but I am definitely going to get another jar to eat for a snack or with lunch or dinner! Now for a Tik Tok "recipe". I used quotations, because it's really just a chop/open a can and throw together situation. Corn, black beans, pinto beans, onion, tomato, cilantro. I ate it with tortilla chips for lunch this week. It was so good! Next time, I would add more tomato and use less onion (maybe even no onion at all), and I should have chopped up the cilantro a little better! I also squeezed in some lime juice and added salt a...

Happy last Friday of August! As always, I am here to link up with Erika and Andrea to share some faves from my week.  To be honest, it feels out of touch to make this post. After the devastating news of yet another school shooting, my heart is so heavy. Innocent lives taken and still no changes from people in power. I honestly do not know how anyone can see news like this and not be enraged and demanding for change. I do not get political on here, because that is not what I want for this space. However, I feel the need to share my thoughts about this. America needs gun control. ALL Americans need access to healthcare, especially when it comes to mental health. America needs change. Remember these things when you vote. Think about your babies, their friends, their teachers. Stay aware, stay educated. But also please make sure you spend time doing things that bring you joy (it's good for your mental health!). That is at least what I am going to do. With that being said, here ar...
