Charleston 2025

Happy Wednesday, friends!! Today I am sharing all about my recent trip to Charleston with my mom, Mimi, and Lib!

On June 19, we loaded up and headed towards Charleston, SC! We stopped in Augusta, GA, for lunch at Metro Diner. My mom has a wheat allergy, and she loves their gluten free grilled cheese. Lib and I shared their club sandwich and a grilled ham and cheese- both were so good!

After what seemed like forever, we finally made it! We strolled down King Street.....

We strolled a bit more before trying to find something for dinner. I think this is all on Queen Street!

We landed on pizza! They had gluten free crust! But y'all, our waitress was SO rude. Maybe even beyond rude. The pizza was delish though- sausage and banana peppers is a great combo! Caleb and I ate at this same place when we came- our waitress was nice, though- ha! It's called New York City Pizza, and it's on E. Bay St.

Just behind there is the famous Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park. Gorgeous views!!

Friday morning OOTD! I had two people ask me if this dress was Hillhouse! Both were SHOCKED when I said nope, Amazon!

We spent the morning learning about the history of the enslaved people at McLeod Plantation. We took advantage of the guided tour, and it was very informative! I really appreciate that the emphasis was on the people who were enslaved there rather than the owners of the plantation.

We then headed over to Shem Creek where I apparently only took this one photo. Bummer. But look at those oysters!! Crazy! We grabbed lunch at Vickery's Bar and Grill. We just had appetizers- the spinach artichoke dip was delish!

Then we made our way back to King Street where I shopped until I literally almost dropped! So much so that this was the only pic I took. Does this theatre look familiar to ya?? It was in The Notebook! We also browsed the Charleston City Market which I think is a must but goodness it is HOT.

We headed back to our hotel to freshen up for dinner at Magnolias. Another must! Our food was FABULOUS! My mom and I shared the salmon, and we also had truffle potatoes to share. Lib and I shared the red velvet bread pudding, and oh my was it amazing! Mom and Mimi split the flourless chocolate cake- I took a bite and it was also amazing!

On Saturday, we made the hour and a half drive over to Pawley's Island- home of my very fave boutique, Mimi Seabrook! We shopped and then had lunch at Bistro 217. Mimi and I split the Szechuan noodles. YUM.

Then we made our way over to Paradice for ice cream. Soooo good- they have a gluten free waffle bowl.

Once we got back to Charleston, we went to see the beautiful Angel Oak!

We got back to our room to change for dinner at the place I was most looking forward to revisiting...

The Matador! I had a cucumber jalapeño marg, and my mom and I shared chicken tacos. Everything was DELISH. Y'all know how much I love Mexican food, so this was a MUST.

Pretty flowers on our walk back to the hotel!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn- Historic District on Meeting Street. It was such a good location- walked most places, plus it's literally right around the corner from King Street! If you want to see what Caleb and I did on our trip last August, you can find those posts HERE.

If you haven't visited Charleston, I would highly recommend a trip. Whether it's a girls trip, a getaway with your spouse, or you take the whole fam- there is SO much to do and see (and eat😂).

Have a great day!

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...

Friday Favorites {10.18.24}

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a great week! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea today to share some faves from my week. Well guess what is back tonight?? NEW Hallmark Christmas movies!! Ummm YAY!! I'm most excited about Confessions of a Christmas Letter (Angela from The Office is starring in that one!) and Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story! For some foodie faves... This right here. It made my week. I'm obsessed with the tuna from Beagle Bagel. It's amazing. I can never say it enough! I made egg drop soup for the lunch the other day, and it was really good! It's always been my favorite soup from Chinese buffets. I didn't feel great and wanted a soup...luckily I had all the ingredients. I used this recipe here. The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...
