Happy Wednesday!! Who is loving The Life of a Showgirl?? I know I sure am. Here are all of my current thoughts after listening for a few days....
The Fate of Ophelia: When I hit play after the album was first released, I immediately thought "Ok, this is the tone for the album. Makes sense. I love it!"
Elizabeth Taylor: If you have ever thought that Taylor and Travis was all PR, just listen to this. You'll quickly realize the girl is IN LOVE.
Opalite: I 100% understand why this is Travis's favorite. Might be mine too! SO good, so fun, and so sweeeeet!!
Father Figure: This is The Man (Taylor No Longer Cares What Anyone Thinks Version).
Eldest Daughter: This song gets me every time I listen. It perfectly sums up what it's like to be the eldest daughter.
Ruin The Friendship: Not at all what I was expecting. Regret is one of the worst things we experience as humans, and it is perfectly demonstrated in this song. (P.S., Even though it's for a sad reason, I love the mention of Abigail.)
Actually Romantic: Taylor haters this one is for YOU. I love it, and I think it's funnyyyy as all get out! If you dislike her so much, why does she consume your life so much?? (This one is reportedly about a certain celeb, but I think it fits perfectly for anyone who makes hating Taylor their personality)
Wi$h Li$t: I loooooove this one so much!! It makes me happy that Taylor knows she deserves what she wants, but it makes me sad that she will never get those things in a "normal" way.
Wood: I feel the need to crawl under the table, but I really love this one. It is *ahem* very much what you think a song called "Wood" would be about 😳. It's a fun song, though!
CANCELLED!: Ok, I just looked this up, and cancelled is the British spelling, where the American spelling is only one l. Why she used the British spelling, I don't know. But to me, this one is saying "My name is Taylor Swift and Blake Lively is still one of my very best friends." I could be wrong, but it's just what I am currently thinking.
Honey: I feel like this one is underrated but dang it, it's SO SWEET and I love it! Travis has given new meaning to the things Taylor has been called her whole career, and to me that is so powerful.
The Life of a Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter): I didn't really know what to expect with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love that Sabrina is on it, because she knows the life too. I also love that she grew up listening to Taylor and loved her (much like me since we are about the same age), and now she is on Taylor's album. How fun???!!
Ok, what are your thoughts?? Clearly, I love it! Truly, I love every song ever of Taylor's and this album is no exception. I do think it's different than her other albums, but in such a good way!
