July 2023 Book Review

It's BOOK REVIEW DAY! I have to say, I think 2-3 books a month is becoming my sweet spot. And I'm trying to be ok with that. I set big goals for myself to read at least 4 books a month, but it just does not happen.

With that being said, I read two books this month that I absolutely loved and highly recommend!

Happy Place by Emily Henry

I loooved this book. It was incredibly sweet and sad at the same time but with a great ending. I feel like everything was wrapped up nicely. It is of course, very predictable but also not predictable at all- if you can imagine😂.

This is the first novel I've read by Emily Henry, and I'm happy to say I will be reading more from her in the future! It was a great summer read! Not too light, not too heavy. I read it in two days, because I seriously couldn't put it down! It was such a sweet story surrounding a group of six friends and how much their lives have changed over the years. It details that no matter what, your true friends will always be there for you- even when you think you aren't worthy of that kind of love.

(Heads up, it does get a bit R rated.)

The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hildebrand

Another love!! I think we all know and LOVE Elin Hildebrand's work!

This was such a cute beachy book but still full of juicy drama and lots of heartwarming aspects. Four girlfriends that main character Hollis Shaw has made over her lifetime gather together for a "Five-Star Weekend" on Nantucket. There were some parts where I maybe wasn't super interested in reading, but I never really got bored. There were also parts where I was completely hooked and couldn't put it down!

Life, love, loss, deception, finding yourself...it's all here in this Elin Hildebrand novel! Take it to the beach or pool, or bring it to your book club- it's the perfect read for any occasion!

I have a few books on my list, but is there anything else I should add?

Have a happy MONDAY!

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a great week! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea today to share some faves from my week. Well guess what is back tonight?? NEW Hallmark Christmas movies!! This right here. It made my week. I'm obsessed with the tuna from Beagle Bagel. It's amazing. I can never say it enough! I made egg drop soup for the lunch the other day, and it was really good! It's always been my favorite soup from Chinese buffets. I didn't feel great and wanted a soup...luckily I had all the ingredients. I used this recipe here. The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
