Let's Look {October 2024}

Happy Wednesday! If you know, you know....this is my favorite link up each month! I'm linking up with Erika and Shay for Let's Look! Fun fact...this is my 20th Let's Look post!

Here's a recap of what we have "looked" at so far this year.....

In January, we "looked" at How We Clean Our Closets.

In February, we "looked" at Little Things We Do Every Single Day.

In March, we "looked" at Our Grocery Carts.

In April, we "looked" at Our Daily Quiet Time.

In May, we "looked" at Our Summer Closet Staples.

In June, we "looked" at Our Summer Schedule.

In July, we "looked" at Podcasts and Shows We Binge.

I was on vacation for the August edition.

In September, we "looked" at Our Quick Weeknight Dinners.

And today, we are "looking" at......

HOW WE PREP FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON!

Ohhhhh how I LOVE this topic! This is my very favorite time of the year, so here's how I prepare!

I buy early.

Christmas gifts, decor, y'all know I love my napkins and candles....all of that stuff, I *try* to buy it a couple of months/several weeks in advance. Or, at least start thinking about it all early. Last year, ON Christmas day, Caleb and I decided what we were getting his parents for Christmas 2024 😂.

Make your list, check it twice!

When I start buying gifts, I make a list in my notes app of who I'm buying for, what I want to buy them, and then once I buy their gift, I check them off. I double check this though and make sure I actually bought the gift, didn't check off by accident, etc.

Here is just an example...I haven't bought anything yet!

Don't. Stress.

I know it's easier said than done. But take care of yourself and your mental health. Take time for YOU. Be present. You will enjoy more AND you'll be more enjoyable to be around!

Let everyone know who you'll be with, when, where.

Send it in a group text, write it down, remind, don't forget.....sleeping arrangements, gift exchanges, breakfast, lunch, dinner, whatever it may be. It alleviates any confusion and potentially some hurt feelings...everyones emotions run a little higher around the holidays. Just prepare yourselves and them, BUT be flexible too. If something doesn't get done. It's ok. Again, don't stress.

Make a holiday bucket list.

Write down all of the things you want to do over the holiday season, and do them early if possible!

Make sure you have birthday wrapping on hand. Yes, birthday!!

Wrap birthday gifts in BIRTHDAY paper. It doesn't matter if the birthday falls ON the holiday. If you have a birthday gift to give, for the love, wrap it in birthday paper. My mom, my sister, and my grandmother have birthdays around the holiday season, so I feel this one strongly! So, make sure you have birthday paper around the holidays!

Have a happy Wednesday and a stress free holiday season!

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a great week! I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea today to share some faves from my week. Well guess what is back tonight?? NEW Hallmark Christmas movies!! Ummm YAY!! I'm most excited about Confessions of a Christmas Letter (Angela from The Office is starring in that one!) and Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story! For some foodie faves... This right here. It made my week. I'm obsessed with the tuna from Beagle Bagel. It's amazing. I can never say it enough! I made egg drop soup for the lunch the other day, and it was really good! It's always been my favorite soup from Chinese buffets. I didn't feel great and wanted a soup...luckily I had all the ingredients. I used this recipe here. The weather this week was absolute perfection.  I mean, it was really, really cool. And it was fabulous. So, that means.... I broke out a sweater and my Sorel booties that I love so much! I always forget how good the Bible app is. I opened it up...

Let's Look: September 2024

Hey, friends! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today is the September edition of Let's Look. But before I get into that, I want to talk a bit about today, September 11. Today is the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on 9/11. I was only one year old when this happened, so I obviously do not remember where I was or what I was doing or anything from this day. All I know is because of the people who continue to honor to victims and the heroes of this day. I have had the honor of visiting the memorial and museum in NYC twice now, and both times I have been were such an incredible experience. Visiting there is heavy. It is sad. It's informative. It's also beautiful to see how our country came together in such an awful time. I love this picture that I took on my last visit. The leaves in the picture are from a tree that survived everything from that day 23 years ago. It was transported to a greenhouse for a while, but it was eventually moved back, and I loved that I could...
